Not only will a detailed home inventory help you select the appropriate level of cover but should the worst happen, it will help you make an accurate insurance claim. It may also shorten the time it takes to settle the claim. If you don’t have an inventory, this could put you in danger of being underinsured, leaving you vulnerable to having any claim down valued or even not paid at all.
- How much does it cost?
Your first inventory is FREE but you can have as many additional inventories as you need at a cost of just £6 per year. You can also upgrade to Inventory+, which enables you to add photographs, receipts, valuation reports, insurance documents, etc.
- Will I be charged each time I log in to my account?
No, you can access your inventory as often as you need. And don’t forget that it’s important to add any new items you buy or receive.
- Do I need to send a copy of the inventory to my insurance company?
It is not usually a requirement, but your insurance company may arrange for a representative to visit your property and discuss the level of your contents insurance. Providing a printed copy of your inventory at this point may be useful.
- How does an inventory help me make an insurance claim?

- Do I have to list all my belongings?
No, but if you do you will have a more accurate valuation of your possessions enabling you to buy the right level of insurance. Also in the event of a claim it will be easier to complete the paperwork.

Yes, but it is advisable to list everything in order to achieve an accurate valuation of everything in your home.
- What if I am unsure of the value of an item?
If you have a ‘new for old’ policy you will need to know what it would cost you to replace each item. For electrical goods, modern furniture etc this may just require you to research retailers. However if you have works of art, collectables & antiques you may require an independent professional valuation.
- Should I add photographs, receipts and warranties?
We strongly advise that you upgrade to Inventory+ to enable you to add photographs of your possessions, in particular the most valuable items, jewellery, works of art, antiques etc. You can also scan in and store receipts, warranties, insurance polices etc.
- Is there a limit to the number of items I can add to my inventory?
No. You can add as many items as you want. Remember it is important to update your inventory regularly as you acquire new possessions. Buying just a couple of DVDs & CDs per month can add as much as £800 to the value of your home contents.

No. It is important to add all of your possessions to your inventory to accurately assess their value in order to buy the right level of insurance.
- Can I have more than one inventory?
Yes. Many people require additional inventories for holiday homes, buy to let properties, students at university etc and you can add as many inventories as you like to your account at a charge of just £6 each.
- Can I make changes to my inventory?
You can amend your inventory as often as you like to either add or remove items.
- Can I move items from one inventory to another?
Yes - simply delete the item and add it to the required inventory.

Each inventory is encrypted and stored on a secure server. To offer you additional peace of mind we do not require your postal address - just your e-mail.
- Why should I use an online service.
Your online inventory enables you to access your account even if your computer is damaged or stolen and from anywhere in the world.
- Can I access my inventory 24 hours a day.
Yes. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from anywhere in the world providing you have internet access, where you just log in using your username & password.
- What happens if I forget my password?
No problem. Simply click on the forgotten password button and we will send a it to your e-mail address.

- Will my details be lost if I upgrade to Inventory+?
No. Your inventory will remain safe - Under Your Roof will simply upgrade your account.
- What happens if I choose not to renew my subscription to Inventory+?
You will no longer be able to access your images but all other entries on your inventory will remain unchanged.
